The last blog post I wrote was on receiving vision for your life. Today’s blog is about stepping and moving into the vision that the Lord gives you. Now, I would like to mention that this is not a formula, but I do believe that some of these suggestions are pretty basic, in order to move into the vision and see it come into fruition. This is all part of the journey of walking out the vision that God gives you.

I mentioned in the last blog that some of us may get the big picture, but not all the details. Some of us may get vision for only this next year, or even for the next month. Any vision is great, and what the Lord gives you is what he desires you to focus on at this moment. He will also build on it, so continue seeking him concerning your vision as well as decreeing, and declaring over the vision. There is one thing that each of these types of visions have in common and that is taking the steps, and moving forward in the vision that God gives you, whatever that looks in this moment.

When I was eighteen the Lord gave me a very broad vision that I knew would take time to fulfill. There was a ten-year gap between the first time I received the vision, and the moment when I heard the first assignment on how to step into the vision. Once I received the first assignment of writing the book, I then began to take the step and write it. I’m not saying I wrote every day, it took me five years to complete the book, but what I kept doing was stepping. I didn’t give up, and every time I felt like giving up the Holy Spirit inside of me just wouldn’t relent. I didn’t really know for certain if my book would get into the hands of others, or that it would be picked up by a publishing company. Despite all my un-belief in myself, I believed and had FAITH IN GOD. I believed, and trusted that first of all I had heard from from the Lord, and second I trusted him to fulfill all of the promises that came along with the vision. See, the vision was never about me or my capabilities, the vision has always been about God!!! How HE will fulfill the vision that HE placed on my life for HIS purpose.

The first step for me was getting the assignment to begin moving into the vision. Many of us don’t always know where to begin, and this can be the big hang-up. Some of us may hear exactly where we are supposed to take that first step while others may have no clue. I have found that God doesn’t always give us the play by play, but what he does give us is free will. Sometimes that Lord wants to see what you want to do first. There is not always a right or wrong answer. I have heard people say “well God hasn’t said yet” as if they have no will of their own. I have personally found many times God wants to know what it is you want to do. He isn’t a control freak, and that is why he gave us free will, because he desires us to freely choose our own path. He may have a destination in mind, but sometimes it takes us making the decisions, and taking that first step of getting there.

So, sometimes the first assignment is your choice. I have recently run into this situation in my own life. When I cried out to the Lord, and he told me I was going to write it book that was AWESOME, but it doesn’t always work that way. I have heard the Lord say many times, “what do you want to do.” Sometimes we just must step and find out, and then allow God to re-adjust us a little. This is good because it is teaching us to how to co-labor with him to achieve the vision.

“A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” Proverbs 16:9

I heard someone once say, “in order for God to direct our steps we have to be moving.” The main thing is to just begin stepping, and moving. Sometimes it may be your choice, and other times it may be something where the Lord telling you where to step. Those are my favorite times when God tells me where to go, or gives me an inclination of what to do. When God gives you direction then it’s important to be obedient, and begin moving in faith.

What if I heard wrong? I come to realize in my walk with the Lord that he would rather me step, and fail than not step at all. By stepping out I believe it shows God that we are trusting him, even if we get it wrong. There have been times when I believed the Lord was telling met do something, and I stepped, and failed. Even in the failing I learned something, and had grown in the process. Sometimes we step and fail, failing is ok, but quitting is when we lose. Romans 8:28 says, “All things work out for the good of those who love God.” If you get it wrong, God will make it right one way, or another. The important part is stepping out, and finding out, because if you don’t step at all then you will never find out.

While I was writing my book, I asked the Lord straight out “is this book really going to be published?” I heard a straight back “yes.” I began to wonder how it was ever going to get published, but I just felt like that Lord was saying, “don’t worry about it, I will make it happen.” So I didn’t worry about it, I just kept on writing. Early 2016 I felt the Lord said to me, “this is the year your book is going to get published. Get the book finished, and buttoned up.” I guess it was just a knowing. I don’t hear the audible voice of God, but I just knew I needed to get it finished. I wasn’t even sure if it had everything I wanted to write in it, but never the less I finished the book.

Six months later I went to a conference. One of the the things I was believing for at this particular conference is that I would divinely meet someone who would help me get the book published. The first day of the conference passed by, nothing happened. The second day of the conference started to pass by, and there is was only one day left. That afternoon of the second day of the conference I began talking to the Lord and asking him why nothing I was believing for was happening? He said, “what do you want?” I knew what he meant, I had been believing for things, but I never directly asked him for them. Remember the verse, “ask and you shall receive” Matthew 7:7. So, I took out a piece of paper, and began writing down each thing I desired. By the end of the third night I had received EVERYTHING ON MY LIST, but I also had to be obedient, and walk out some steps to get there.

The third day of the conference the Lord spoke to me during the first session and said, “stay today for the breakout sessions.” Well, I had been going back to the hotel the past two days because going to these extended sessions makes for a long day. So, I decided to stay, but there were two breakout sessions, and I wasn’t sure which one I should go to. I asked the Lord which session he wanted me to stay for, and he told me which one. As I was sitting waiting there for the breakout session to begin the Lord gave me a “word” for the speaker. Literally it was just one word. I said, “Lord you really want me to go up to this man, and give him a one word prophesy?” The Lord said “yes.” After the breakout session was over I preceded to stand in line waiting to give this man a one word prophesy. As I’m waiting there were two women praying for a young woman standing in front of me in the line. The Lord says to me, “join in.” So, in obedience I joined in, and begin praying for her along with them. While we were all praying for her the Lord gave me a word for her. After we are done praying I politely tap her shoulder, and said the Lord gave me a word for you, and I told her the word. She looks at me, and says the Lord gave me a word for you when you walked into the room today, so she begins prophesying over me. After we are done prophesying we start talking, and to come find out she wrote a book, and got it published! She looks at me and said God told me I was going to give someone favor today, and that person is you!!!! Making this already long story shorter, she connected me with publishing company that published her book, and they ended up publishing my book! God told me not worry about it he would get the book published, and that is exactly what he did! God works in marvelous, and mysterious ways, but we must be listening, stepping, and then in faith trusting, and believing he will do his part. We listen, we step, then he steps. We listen, he steps, then we step, and in my life the pattern continues.

God is good, and you can trust him to make the vision complete! When he gives you a promise, stand on that promise by making sure to both listen to what he says to do as well, then begin to step out and do it! I have met people who have great callings on their life, but they are waiting for a fairy god mother to make all their dreams come true, and I’m afraid it doesn’t quite work that way.  I personally believe we have to show God that we are listening to him, step out in faith in doing, and then he will step, and bring the promise into full fruition!

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
